In October 2023, Formlabs has announced the introduction of three healthcare-focused 3D printing materials to its library. BioMed Elastic 50A Resin, BioMed Flex 80A Resin, and IBT Flex Resin have been added to the company’s range of materials. The company says the two new BioMed materials will expand the applications for 3D printing in healthcare, reducing the time and costs associated with traditional production methods, such as moulding, for surgical models, medical devices, and more.
In May 2023, the winners of “Renewable Material of the Year 2023” Innovation Award are bio-based and biodegradable elastic materials from KUORI (CH), carbon-light yeast oil COLIPI (DE) and the plastic-free natural polymer traceless® (DE). The annual Renewable Materials Conference, which took place from 23-25 May, 2023, in Siegburg, Germany is one of the largest and most important gatherings for the renewable materials industry.
In October 2022, independent Netherlands-based photopolymer manufacturer Liqcreate has added a new elastic engineering resin to its 3D printing material portfolio. Designed to be one of the softest elastomer resins on the market, Elastomer-X features high elongation, good tear strength and a Shore A hardness of as low as 43, lending it a pliability akin to that of TPUs and silicones.
