Mass Flow Controller Market News

  • In January 2024, Tokyo Keiso Co., Ltd. launched two new flowmeters with options for single-use biopharmaceutical applications such as the BIOMAG Electromagnetic Flowmeter and the BIOSONIC Ultrasonic Flowmeter. These flowmeters will have a disposable biocompatible gamma-ray sterilizable flow sensor and a single-barb fitting that will also be manufactured in compliance with specifications for the manufacture of biopharmaceuticals and compatible with single-use systems.
  • In October 2023, to further increase its market share in the Malaysian region, Brooks Instrument marked the opening of a new production facility in Penang, Malaysia. The new plant will manufacture mass flow controllers, or MFCs. Brooks' new 57,000 square-foot plant is its fourth globally. To date, the Malaysian plant has been involved in manufacturing the company's GF100 MFC line of MFCs. The largest cleanroom in Brooks' Class 100 facility is located in the factory.
  • In June 2023, Brooks Instrument offered its most updated generation of elastomer-sealed thermal MFCs known as the SLAMf series. These MFCs have enhanced Class I/Division 2 & Zone 2 certifications and are particularly designed for hazardous locations. SLAMf MFCs feature best-in-class control and reliability with high-speed EtherNet/IP and PROFINET communication protocols. In addition, they have qualified through the extreme safety testing and received UL, ATEX, KOSHA, IECEx, and CE marks.

The growth in mass flow controller industry is mainly due to the need for high precision in industries such as biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and semiconductors. MFCs prove to be indispensable for refining production yields by maintaining standards of quality to satisfy demands according to the necessary regulatory requirements concerning the control of gas flow across various sectors.

Integration of Automation Systems with Internet of Things: One of the new mass flow controller market trends in the industry is integrating MFCs with automation systems and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. This helps increase system efficiency and reduces costs involved in operating this system as the system can be made possible for real-time monitoring, remote diagnostics, and predictive maintenance. Internet of Things-enabled MFCs is rapidly becoming part of the emerging automation ecosystem with companies making the much-needed transition toward smart manufacturing.

As a result of this, with the high-tech sectors such as semiconductor manufacturing, biotechnology, aerospace, and research laboratories, North America accounted for 21.8% in 2023. Mass flow controllers help manage gas flow accurately in these industries so as to keep their processes precise, reliable, and efficient. The demand for mass flow controllers is expected to increase in North America due to the integration of technological advancements such as automation, artificial intelligence, and precision manufacturing into products. This rise in demand for advanced MFC solutions based on the increasing application complexity in semiconductor manufacturing and the biotech research that requires high quality and performance preservation is supporting the dominance of the region's market.
