  • In January 2024, Pet-food group Swedencare has entered the North America organic pet-nutrition category through the acquisition of US-based pet-treats company Riley’s. The Swedish company purchased Riley’s through its subsidiary Pet MD Brands for USD 7.5 million.
  • In October, 2023, the Council of the EU gave its final approval on a new EU law that will align the rules regarding the labelling of organic pet food to those governing the labelling of organic food intended for human consumption. The new regulation will make it easier for pet owners to purchase organic food for their pets. It also provides an opportunity for farmers engaged in organic production.
  • In July 2023, European dog food company, The Rockster declared that they are bringing bio-organic, superfood products for dogs to the US. The company’s products will be distributed by Phillips Pet Food & Supplies to more than 120 independent pet retail locations throughout the country. The Rockster claims to be the only dog food in the United States that is certified bio-organic, an extremely strict European organic food standard.
